Make sure work is done properly on roads

With the all the recent write-ups in the Advocate about all the bad roads we have in the city of Victoria, I was wondering if anyone is checking the work of the contractors during and after job completion?
Are these contractors held accountable for jobs not performed properly?
I know low spots on an asphalt road that hold water will eventually become a pothole. Case in point: A road construction company just finished Springwood Drive - the entrance to Springwood Edition. It looks great to the eye, but there are low spots in this new road that hold water, which will become potholes again. We need to make sure that our taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, and road repairs would be a good place to start.
Let's get our money's worth and make sure the repairs are done properly. None of us want to pay top dollar for subpar work.
