A University of Houston-Victoria meeting between 23 regional leaders originally scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled.

A new meeting date will be announced after the group has had an opportunity to establish schedules and protocols, according to a UH System news release.

UHV Work Group chairman Charles Alcorn, UHV director of corporate and foundation relations, confirmed the cancellation Tuesday.

The work group, which is composed of 23 community leaders, is one of four parts of the UH Sugar Land Transition Team expected to ease the coming separation between the Victoria and Fort Bend County campuses.

"There might have been too many conflicts; I wasn't going to be able to attend according to my schedule," said Victoria Mayor Paul Polasek, a UHV Work Group member. "It's a big group, so it's going to be hard to get everyone in the same room."

Alcorn notified work group members of the cancellation Saturday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Polasek said nobody from the UH System has asked him for his schedule to establish a future meeting date.
