Two area cities were named among the top 15 best small cities in Texas.

Goliad and Hallettsville were included in a list compiled and published online by CitiesJournal.com, a site that provides news, insight, analysis and stories about cities around the world, according to its website.

Hallettsville took the top honors. Hallettsville was listed as one of the most unique cities in the world for its one-of-a-kind name, according to the website. The city's annual events, including Kolache Fest and Fiddler's Frolics, helped it earn the top ranking.

Goliad was recognized as the fifth top small city for its rich heritage and history. According to the listing, Goliad Market Days, which is the second Saturday of every month, attracts visitors to the namesake county to shop for area crafts, artisanal goods and produce.
