A small fire along the roof of Skillet's, 3202 Houston Highway, shut down the restaurant and part of the highway Wednesday afternoon.

No major damage or injuries were reported. The staff and a few customers were evacuated as a precaution.

Victoria Fire Department responded to the call about 1:45 p.m. and was able to confine the hot spots to an area around the pancakes sign on the front of the building, assistant fire chief Tracy Fox said.

Traffic on the highway is flowing in both directions.

Skillet's will reopen at 6 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
