The One New Man Church, formerly Life Impact, is hosting "Stand with Israel" from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

The event aims to celebrate and honor Israel and its people per the tradition of the Zionist influence of the church, which proclaims the Jewish roots of Christianity.

"It's an exciting event that is so unique to this area," said Janice Vargas, co-minister of The One New Man, a nondenominational church. "It's a message that we need to be hearing."

Vargas' church, led by her husband, Ray Vargas, is hosting guest speaker, Lyndon Allen, of Christians United for Israel.

Allen serves as CUFI's central regional coordinator and has visited Israel twice on governmental and religious tours.

"Stand with Israel" is open to the community and is free to attend.

"If people come, they will understand why this is so important," Vargas said. "And it will give us an opportunity to show that we are a united community."
