Zionism is political organization, not religion

Editor, the Advocate:

Regarding the May 16 article in the Advocate on page A4, with the Religion label, "Stand with Israel event hosts Zionist guest speaker," Zionism is a movement for the reestablishment and the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel. It was established as a political organization in 1897 under Theodor Herzl and was later led by Chaim Weizmann.

Zionism is not Judaism. Zionism is a political organization, not a religious organization. It would be more appropriately listed under political events.
