Cole Urban is looking forward to playing at Riverside Stadium this weekend and beyond.
Urban and his Victoria East teammates will play Game 2 and, if necessary, Game 3 of their best-of-three Class 4A regional semifinal series against Buda Hays at their home field.
Urban is also expecting to be back at Riverside Stadium for the 2015 season as a member of the UHV baseball team.
Urban has committed to accept an offer to play for the Jaguars next season.
"I want to play here again," Urban said. "It's looking bright for me to play here next year."
Urban has played third base for the Titans this season.
He is hitting .341 with six doubles, two home runs and 18 RBIs.
"He's performed well," said East coach Wes Kolle. "He's a very talented player with a high baseball IQ. He was able to put it together on the field."
UHV coach Terry Puhl is anxious to add Urban to what he anticipates being a talented freshman class.
"I like the way he swings the bat," Puhl said. "He has some pop. He has a good arm, and he runs well for a big guy. The other thing is he's pretty intelligent. You have to do things over at third base like handle bunt plays and stuff like that."
Urban is hoping to end his high school career at the state tournament but is looking forward to next season.
"I'd love to stay here and play for another year in my hometown," he said.
Urban will join East teammate Trevor Brown at UHV.
Brown has signed with the Jaguars and will be converted from an outfielder to a pitcher.
