Sacred Heart picnic celebrates 132 years

The community is invited for a day of picnic games and glory Sunday at the annual Sacred Heart Parish spring picnic.
Hosted at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville, the event kicks off at 10:30 a.m. when lunch will be served, and drive-thru plates will be available, followed by activities in the main pavilion at 1 p.m.
Some of the picnic events include an auction featuring antiques, cattle, handmade quilts, arts, crafts, nursery plants, canned goods and collectable dolls.
Children's games and rides are set up on the grounds from noon to 6 p.m. A washer-pitching tournament will begin at 5 p.m.
In addition to the $8.50 country-fried chicken lunch with cornbread, sides and dessert, festival fare, such as hamburgers, french fries, funnel cakes, popcorn, snow cones and nachos, will be sold on location throughout the event.
The J&D Playboys will perform live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Red Ravens and Jodie Mikula Orchestra will perform in the polka pavilion and biergarten from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Additional performances will be also be featured.
The event is free to attend, and all are welcome.
