Appraisal district valuations are too high

I just don't get this appraisal district money grab that is going on and has been for years. It seems everyone in this community agrees that the property valuations are highly inflated, but no one seems to be able to do anything about it.
Who is the Victoria Central Appraisal District accountable to? Why can it inflate property values and then shrug its shoulders when you protest? I have protested several times, and without fail, the two to three "comparable properties" are in much nicer neighborhoods with pools that sit near a golf course. Mine has no pool and does not sit on a golf course. How is that comparable?
I urge every citizen in this community to evaluate your recent property valuation, and if you feel it's inflated and not fair, protest. It's your right as a citizen and property owner to do so. I would go so far as to say it's your duty.
If we as citizens just keep paying the tab, the district will just keep inching it up year after year. This isn't right, people.
