UHV seniors Aubri Hockenbury and Haley Beam claimed the Red River Athletic Conference weekly softball honors for the week of April 10-16.
Hockenbury, who plays second base and outfield for the Jaguars, earned her third honor of the season.
Hockenbury homered and drove in a pair of runs as the Jaguars played a close doubleheader with top-ranked Oklahoma City on Thursday in Farmers Branch. Hockenbury compiled a .286 batting average with a .714 slugging percentage in the two games.
She is now one shy of tying the UHV single-season record for home runs after hitting her 14th of the season in the opening game. She is tied for the conference lead in homers while ranking second in RBIs with 48.
Beam, a senior from Pearland, claimed her second pitcher of the week honor as she worked both ends of the OCU doubleheader, allowing only three earned runs in 15 innings. She tossed three innings in the first game, surrendering only four hits and one unearned run. She then pitched the final 11 innings of the 12-inning final game.
On the week, Beam compiled a 1.50 ERA allowing four runs on five hits and no walks, while striking out three in 14 innings. She leads the conference with a 1.35 ERA and is tied for second in wins with 11.
