Teachers make more of a difference than the buildings they teach in

Editor, the Advocate:
I will not be voting for the current VISD bond proposal. I think there is too much fat in this issue of the proposal.
Students learn from teachers, not from the buildings they are taught in.
At the present time, I do not think that VISD pays its teachers a livable income. The proposed increase might cover the cost of health insurance, which is a continuing problem for teachers. I would like to see a factual statement of teachers' pay with deductions, with the proposed pay raise and with present pay.
Teachers are more important than buildings - and more important than most of the items listed in this bond proposal.
