Thumbs-up, thumbs-down; it's your choice

Thumbs-up for the State of Texas in common sense use of restrooms. Men and boys use the men and boys' restrooms and dressing rooms. Women and girls use the women and girls' restrooms and dressing rooms. I believe this is biblical and ethical.

Thumbs-up to the people of Victoria who gave a can or two or a bag of food to the "Scouting for Food" campaign to help feed the hungry.
Thumbs-up to Ashley HomeStore and their partner organizations for their A Hope To Dream program, which gave away much-needed beds and other necessary items - school supplies, toiletries, underwear, etc. - to 50 local children. They do an amazing job supporting our community.
Thumbs-up to sunscreen for indoors as well as outdoors. Ultraviolet rays come right through building windows and car windows. Sun screen lotions can help prevent skin damage caused by these rays.
Compare skin that is protected by clothing with skin that gets frequent exposure, and if there is a noticeable difference, it is likely caused by ultraviolet rays.
Thumbs-up to the Boy Scouts and volunteers who gave their time and effort to the "Scouting for Food" campaign to help the Food Bank and pantries in South Texas.
Thumbs-up to the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament who provided me with a solid background in grades 1-12, preparing me for college and beyond.
Classrooms were cooled by fans. Sports were intramural softball (four teams/class of 40), parking lot volleyball when fields were muddy, square dancing in the cafeteria or hangman in the classroom on rainy days. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.
Thumbs-down to Victoria elected officials who call themselves conservative and have voted themselves several raises in the past years.
Thumbs-down to the city of Victoria for charging for pickup of recycled trash that isn't even put out - and brush pickup that isn't picked up every month. This is the ripping off of us tax paying citizens. Especially if you're on a fixed income and need every penny to survive.
Thumbs-down to only having one access ramp for wheelchairs at the DeLeon Plaza downtown. I would like to see DeLeon Plaza have access points on all four sides of the block. As it is now, anyone in a wheelchair trying to enter the plaza has to go a ways around to reach the northwest corner, near the courthouse, where the entry point is located.
