A 29-year-old Victoria man was taken to Citizens Medical Center on Thursday evening after crashing his truck into a tree on North Laurent Street.

Devon Moore was driving south in the 400 block of North Laurent Street in a 2014 GMC Sierra pickup when he failed to stay in a single lane and left the roadway. Moore crashed into a tree about 9:10 p.m., said Lt. Eline Moya, a spokeswoman with the Victoria Police Department.

Preliminary investigation into the single-vehicle wreck shows there was a distraction in the vehicle that caused Moore to look away from the road and leave the roadway, Moya said.

The front end of the vehicle was heavily damaged.

Moore was treated and released from Citizens Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said Friday.

The crash remains under investigation.
