University of Houston-Victoria officials and Victoria College officials were monitoring Tropical Storm Harvey and making preparations Wednesday.

The university's move-in day Thursday and Jaguar Journey Friday will continue as scheduled, said Jeremy Shapiro, UHV communications manager.

Adjustments will be made to move activities that take place outside to indoor facilities, he said.

Officials sent a notification to students, faculty and staff Wednesday evening letting them know the storm is being monitored and updates will be made as more information is available.

Victoria College officials issued an emergency alert at 1 p.m. Wednesday that they will monitor the storm, said Coy Slavik, the college's communications specialist.

An update will be issued including delays or closures by noon Thursday.

The college has a communication plan in place and will wait to see what the storm does, Slavik said.

Few students will be on campus Friday because no classes are scheduled then, he said.

Updates can be found on the college's website and Facebook page.

As of Wednesday, the college anticipates classes will continue Monday, he said.
