Jim Mooney has decided to step down as VUSBC Association Manager after 10 years in that capacity. He had also previously served as an association director for 12 years prior to 2001. In 2001 Jim underwent a heart transplant and after being released by his doctors for normal activity he rejoined league competition until 2015.
I asked Jim if he had any thoughts on his tenure as association manager and he stated, "I enjoyed my time as association manager. Particularly after having to give up league bowling, it allowed me to still participate in the bowling community. I enjoyed creating the web site to make local and national bowling news easily accessible for the bowlers."
I am sure I speak for the local bowling community when I say "Thank You Jim for your hard work and dedication to the sport. The best of luck for your future plans."
During the last VUSBC Association meeting, Lori Hammack was chosen as the next VUSBC Association Manager. Lori is originally from Goliad but has bowled and lived in Victoria for many years. With her many years of bowling experience, and based on her work resume, she will do a great job in managing the local association.
Shannon O'Keefe won the PWBA St. Petersburg Open by defeating Clara Guerrero by a score of 202-200. Guerrero, who lives in the Austin area, could have closed out O'Keefe in the 10th frame but instead left 4-6-7-10 split. O'Keefe had left the 7-10 split in the eighth frame to lose the lead but Guerrero's bad shot gave her the title.
As the fourth seed, Guerrero won two matches to reach the championship game.
