The Morning Study Club meeting of Nov. 16 was called to order by Helen Williams, president.

Gale Helweg led the collect and pledges to the flag. Christine Collins was greeter of the day. Mardy Ratliff, treasurer, gave the treasurer's report. Helweg, co-chairwoman of special projects, had sign-up sheets for future events. Charlyne Abshire, Jo Ann Alford and La Nelle Billings were hostesses.

Williams introduced the speaker, Penny Swan, who then introduced her husband, Hugo Swan Jr. Both are retired and have spent the last few years on many travels. The Swans presented a program about traveling in Greece and the Greek Islands, showing some slides and discussing historic sites from ancient civilizations. Hugo Swan also showed pictures and discussed the ancient city of Herculaneum in Italy that was destroyed by volcanic ash in 79 A.D. after an eruption by Mt. Vesuvius. Much of this city has been excavated and contains some splendid remains.
