Son grateful to mother for instilling love of church and Bible

Editor, the Advocate:

Growing up in Luling, Texas, with my three sisters Dorothy Rickaway, Peggy Chase, of Edna, and Betty Clark, of Port Lavaca, I remember going to church was a very important part of my life.

Each time we went to visit my grandma, she would be sitting in the front room reading her Bible. She must have read it from cover to cover many times because every verse was highlighted.

My mother and daddy were very strong Baptists. Every Sunday after church, Mama would make dinner for us. The only requirement to sit at her table was for us to have a church bulletin. Even Daddy. On Sunday morning at the First Baptist Church in Edna with Brother Robert Krause preaching, I get a little teary-eyed when I look down at my church bulletin.

Thank you, Mama, for making church a very important part of our lives. We all will join you in Heaven someday.

Your son -

Bobby Williams, Edna
