Joe Ramirez, 55, talks on his cellphone while relaxing on a cot Wednesday in the warming center at Central Church of Christ. The warming center is set up to give the homeless a warm, dry place to sleep on nights that feel colder than 32 degrees for more than two nights. Organizers plan to reopen the facility Thursday and Friday nights. Wednesday night was the frist time this season for the center to be open. Ramirez said he has been sleeping on the streets for about a month now while he looks for a construction job.
