Thumbs-up, thumbs-down; it's your choice

Thumbs-up to the miracle of 2 inches of snow quietly falling in our area, but also to the secondary miracle of beautiful blooming plants, such as my angel's trumpet, after being snow-flocked, looking like the image of spring after the snow melted! No damage. Amazing.
Thumbs-up to ER employee Tommy Joe Hyak for his fast and caring effort to get me admitted to Citizens Medical Center as I was having extreme pain.
Thumbs-up to the UPS delivery people who have been very strategic lately about carefully placing my packages at the door so they are not visible to people walking or driving by. The way they manage to hide my packages makes them only visible to me when I open my front door.
I so appreciate their thoughtfulness and care. It makes me feel much more secure about having my packages delivered to my home. I'm thinking that UPS is taking the time to train their delivery personnel to "hide" boxes so as to discourage theft.
Thumbs-up to retiring Victoria ISD school board president Lou Svetlik. He has been a selfless volunteer and advocate for our children.
Thumbs-up to Yoakum and Refugio continuing their high school football success in the playoffs at the state semifinal level. They will be representing the whole Crossroads community with their sportsmanship both on and off the field. Make us proud!
Thumbs-up to Natalie Ohrt and the Ohrt family, who are competing against the top junior rodeo competitors in the world at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nev. Go Natalie!
Thumbs-down to unscrupulous out-of-town roofers.
I recently moved to the Mission Valley area and am a victim of the Harvey disaster, a veteran and on a fixed, retired income.
I hired an out-of-town roofing company from San Antonio because local roofers were tied up for weeks, but the holes in my roof, the downed fences and inside damage to my home needed fixing quick.
This roofer showed me fabulous selling points and promises but ended up cheating on materials, padding adjustments to my contract, etc. Now I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau.
