"And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb."
- Luke 2: 20- 21
As we are about to begin a new year, I have been reading Scriptures about the birth of Jesus and the days that followed.
I realize how blessed we are, and I am praying this New Year 2018 will bring much love, peace, joy to all and that we each feel God's grace and strength throughout our lives.
As baby Jesus was saved from Herod's anger, may we be saved from evil and our own bad choices. Let us make New Year's resolutions that will help us lead healthy, happy and peaceful lives.
One of my favorite gifts was given to me by my eldest son, Buck. One day he was searching the internet for my name, and he found one of my "Oceans for Emotions" books was being sold. It was the book with a light blue cover and the copyright was 1986. This book was being sold for $20, and in the book was my handwriting, "Best wishes for many fishes."
This was written when I was young, and my handwriting was so nice. I had no more copies of this book.
Buck mailed me the book and when I opened it, I cried tears of joy. So many emotions overwhelmed me as I saw that the "Oceans for Emotions" book was bought by my teacher friend Dottie from Goliad in 1986, and she had given it to her friend. There was a tag in it saying "Merry Christmas from Dottie."
She had cut out three of her favorite Oceans for Emotions articles that were published in the Victoria Advocate in 1986 through 1988, and they were in the book.
The book's cover had some browning on it, which is called foxing, but other than that, it was in very good shape.
I felt so much nostalgia and felt so blessed. Before Buck sent me this light blue "Oceans" book, I was completely out of all copies of this volume.
Buck is so kind, caring and giving, and he calls me often. He is more than 6 feet tall and very handsome and strong. Even though he lives in Chicago and we are far away from each other, I am blessed because we are close in heart, and we are close in communication.
Dear Lord, I remember when my sons were born and now they are tall strong men. I thank you for them. I love them just as your mother Mary loves you. Lord, please fill us with your love, grace, strength and peace in this new year.
