UHV goes 2-1 at Cowtown Classic

FORT WORTH - UHV opened the season with two wins and a loss at the Cowtown Classic on Friday.

The Jaguars scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to overcome a 5-0 deficit and defeat Avila 6-5.

They defeated Central Methodist 1-0 and dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 1 Oklahoma City.

Savannah Crittenden went the distance in the win against Avila. Against Central Methodist, Crittenden doubled in Marissa Longoria for the game's lone score. Haley Beam tossed a one-hitter, while walking one and striking out four.

The Jaguars will play Tabor (Kansas) and Texas Wesleyan on Saturday.
