The Edna police chief on Monday released the name of a woman who reported to authorities that she shot her boyfriend.
Police responded to a report of an injured person at 12:53 a.m. Feb. 7 after Jarrett Parker's girlfriend, Amber Sorensen, of Edna, called police and said she had shot her boyfriend. When they arrived, authorities found Parker, 33, of Edna, dead of a gunshot wound in a home in the 200 Block of East Church Street.
Edna Police Chief Clinton Wooldridge has not released details about how the shooting occurred. Sorensen has not been arrested and has not been charged in connection with the shooting.
"The case is still under investigation," Wooldridge said.
Sorensen's mother, Linda Durham, said Monday night via Facebook that the family had no comment.
Early autopsy results indicated that Parker was killed by a single gunshot wound to his chest, said Darren Stancik, Jackson County justice of the peace. The autopsy ruled Parker's death a homicide.
Stancik said the completed autopsy results could take more than six weeks and will contain toxicology data and other information.
