A one-vehicle wreck killed a 16-year-old Wharton boy Monday afternoon.

Colin Glenn Tyler was headed east in a 2002 Ford F-150 on Farm-to-Market Road 2546 about 10 miles from El Campo about 1:50 p.m., said Anezma Trevino, communication officer for the Department of Public Safety. Tyler was traveling at an unsafe speed when the truck veered off the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll to the right before coming to rest in a field.

Tyler was ejected while the truck rolled, Trevino said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Tim Drapela, a Wharton County justice of the peace.
