Update: Lanes on US 87 open after crash

The car caught fire after the collision. The accident was reported between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Thursday.  Two people were in the pickup truck but were not transported to a hospital.

The northbound lanes of U.S. 87 at Wood Hi Road are now open, said Cari Hensley, spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Transportation Friday afternoon.

The northbound lanes were closed late Thursday evening until Friday morning after a four-door Chevrolet car hit the back of a trailer being towed by a pickup.

Officials with the Department of Public Safety said they do not have identities yet of the three male occupants of the Chevrolet who were killed in the crash.

The Chevrolet caught fire as a result of the crash. The Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation.

Crews were on scene at 7 a.m. cleaning up the crash. Traffic was being rerouted around the area.

The crash occurred between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Thursday. A four-door Chevrolet car hit the back of a trailer being towed by a pickup, a Department of Public Safety official said.

Officials said they did not have identities yet of the three male occupants of the Chevrolet who were killed in the crash. The Chevrolet caught fire as a result of the crash. The Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation.
