Goliad County Sheriff's Office deputies have stopped the search for a 44-year-old man who was reported missing Wednesday.

The sheriff's office ended the search after family members posted on social media that Johnny Lee Martin, of Goliad, was located, said Capt. John Pape, of the Goliad County Sheriff's Office.

Martin had last been seen at a gathering in Woodsboro, where he told his family he was going home to shower and change clothes, but he never returned, Pape said.

Although no longer searching, authorities have yet to officially confirm the family's report that he left on his own.

"We sent a deputy out to his residence to be on the safe side. No one was home. It's been locked up like it was when first reported," Pape said. "We are still trying to confirm that, according to the family, he left on his own, and that's where that is."
