Colton Starns finished his baseball career at Hallettsville as the co-MVP of District 27-3A.

Starns will get an opportunity to continue his career on the collegiate level after signing a letter of intent on Tuesday evening to play at UHV next season.

Starns pitched and played shortstop for the Brahmas, who won the district championship and advanced to the area playoffs.

Starns' opportunity to pitch was limited by injuries, but he still had a 7-0 record with a 1.37 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 51 innings.

Starns had a .368 average with one triple, six doubles and 20 RBIs. He also scored 35 runs and had 15 stolen bases.

Starns is scheduled to play for the South squad in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association's Class 2A/3A/4A All-Star Game at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
