Generals fall to Bombers

The Brazos Valley Bombers scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning to cruise to a 9-2 victory over the Victoria Generals in a Texas Collegiate League game delayed 45 minutes due to the weather Tuesday at Riverside Stadium.

The Bombers (19-6) had a 3-2 lead heading into the ninth inning.

The Generals' two runs came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Cam Boudreax, who went 3-for-4, led the inning with a leadoff double, and Jack Kenley hit an RBI double followed by an RBI single from Hunter Hearn as the Generals took a 2-1 lead.

The Bombers battled back and took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning.

The Bombers scored on a bases-loaded walk and a bases-loaded RBI single by John Grimsley.

Grimsley finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and Chase Calabuig went 2-for-5 with a double and a triple with two RBIs to lead the Bombers.

Starting pitcher David Worrell had a solid outing with eight strikeouts, while allowing six hits in 52/3 innings of work for the Generals.

The Generals (15-12), who finished with 11 hits, stranded 12 baserunners.
