Thumbs-up, thumbs-down; it's your choice

Thumbs-up for the city of Victoria doing repairs on Red River Street. It has needed fixing for a long time.
Thumbs-up for the movie "The Shack" at Cinemark 12. Very emotional show with a beautiful message. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Thumbs-up for all the local efforts to help our military veterans, in particular our local dentists like Lisa Heinrich-Null. Great story in the Advocate!
Thumbs-up to H-E-B Plus! for offering curbside pickup and online ordering for a small, reasonable handling fee. That's a huge help for the elderly, parents with young children and folks from out of town, too.
Thumbs-up to baseball season getting cranked back up again so we have something to watch on TV besides basketball. And, by the way, our high school baseball teams shouldn't be anywhere near .500. These kids don't forget how to play the game between little league and high school.
Thumbs-down to the city of Victoria for Crestwood Drive, all along Dick's Food Store and Shields Elementary not being dug up and redone after so desperately needing it all these years.
Thumbs-down to the amount of traffic that the road construction on Red River Street has caused to detour onto Virginia Avenue and all the other streets. We have dump trucks, tractors and regular traffic coming down this street now. Unfortunately, there are some people who just come flying by. It is so dangerous for the kids and animals in our neighborhood. It is just horrible.
Thumbs-down to the waste of taxpayer money paying lawyers to resolve a simple issue between the mayor and the drainage district. It's not rocket science, guys. This needs to be handled promptly and efficiently.
