Kenedy lifter places first at state meet

WACO - Kenedy's Gabby Albiar (165) finished in first place in the Class 2A/1A 165 weight class at the Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association state meet Saturday at the Extracto Event Center.

Albair lifted a total of 835 pounds for the Lady Cats. Teammates Larissa Miller (181) finished in sixth place, Aleman Amberosia (220) finished seventh, and Adriana Martinez (198) placed fifth.

Kenedy finished in ninth place as a team with a total of eight points.

Weimar's Amy Jo Wick (12) finished in second place, Alexis Mojica (132) from Gando finished in third place, and Louise's Kaitlyn Suratt (114) and Danielle Puentes (105) finished in eighth place.

Runge's Kayci Monila (148) placed third.

Yorktown's Annie Ochoa (105) placed six, Alexis Longoria (105) followed in seventh place, and Robin Naranjo (114) placed sixth.

In Class 3A, Van Vleck's Kelsey Lopez (105) finished in second place and lifted a total of 72 pounds.

Tidehaven's Shamaurie Williams (181) finished in third, Atana Garay (132) placed eleventh, and Kaitlyn Lucio (97) finished in fourteenth.

Palacios' Karina Ramon (148) finished in fourth place, Industrial's Tia Hart (165) finished in sixth place, Yoakum's Clarissa Garcia (97) finished in eighth place Hallettsville's Jordan Moore (123) placed ninth, and Edna's Tiffany Goranson placed tenth.
