Woodsboro names new AD/head football coach

Plainview defensive coordinator Xavier Rangel has been named the athletic director and head football coach at Woodsboro.

Rangel's hiring was approved by the Woodsboro school district board of trustees Monday night.

Rangel has been the defensive coordinator at Plainview for the past two seasons.

He was previously a head coach at Rocksprings for three seasons and Leakey for two seasons.

Rangel was also an assistant at Odessa Permian for one season.

Rangel will replace Wade Miller, who resigned last month to become the athletic director and head football coach at Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway.

Woodsboro had an overall record of 3-8 last season.

The Eagles went 1-3 in District 16-2A, Division II and lost to Flatonia in the bi-district playoffs.
