Jaguars fall to LSU-Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. - UHV couldn't hold on to a lead in the third inning, and LSU-Alexandria scored runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to hand the Jaguars a 4-2 loss in Red River Athltic Conference action at the Generals Field on Friday.

Chase Tamez tripled to deep left center to score Blake Henneke and Andrew Gross and give the Jaguars (10-15, 6-7) a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning.

But it was short-lived as Kris Tamplet tripled home in the fifth and the Generals (20-15, 9-4) used RBI singles by Ziggy Sloan and Trace Oliva in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.

Collin Quinn (2-2) took the loss, allowing nine hits and four earned runs and walking two while striking out three in seven innings of work for the Jaguars.

Cole Feazell earned the win for LSU-A.

Tamez went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for UHV. Joshua Fonseca went 1-for-4 with a triple, while Jacob Atkinson was 2-for-3 with a double.

The Jaguars return to action against the Generals Saturday in an RRAC doubleheader starting at noon.
