Jaguars open conference tournament with win

FARMERS BRANCH - UHV opened play in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament with a 12-0 win over Langston in five innings at Oran Good Park on Friday.

The Jaguars play LSU-Alexandria at 4 p.m. Saturday, with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship game.

The loser of Saturday's matchup plays in an elimination game at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The Jaguars led 12-0 after three innings. Michelle Revels, Aubri Hockenbury and Kathryn Wright each had two hits for the Jaguars (32-17).

Hockenbury went 2-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored, while Wright was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Haley Beam picked up the win for the Jaguars, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out two in five innings of work.

Jamison Dumont went 1-for-2 with a home run.

LSU-A defeated Our Lady of the Lake 3-0 earlier Friday.
