FARMERS BRANCH - Haley Beam was nearly perfect through five innings before LSU-Alexandria used a six-run sixth inning to defeat the Jaguars 6-2 to advance to Sunday's championship game in the Red River Athletic Conference Softball Tournament at Oran Good Park on Saturday.
The Jaguars (32-18) play in an 11 a.m. elimination game Sunday and will face Our Lady of the Lake, which defeated Langston 4-1 in the other elimination game Saturday.
Beam saw her perfect game disappear in the top of the fifth with a leadoff double by Dani Billings. But Beam left the runner stranded by retiring the next three batters she faced.
Things fell apart in the sixth for Beam following a leadoff solo home run by Kaitlyn Eaves. Gabbie Andreport added a one-out solo shot. The Generals tallied four more runs by sending 11 batters to the plate.
In the seventh, Savannah Crittenden singled to left with one out. Michelle Revels then doubled pinch-runner Alyssa Dial to third with two outs and Aubri Hockenbury would walk to load the bases. Beam then slashed a single to center scoring Dial and Revels, before the Generals were able to finish off the win on a ground out.

Revels was named to the second team for the second straight year, while Davila and Dumont earned their first recognition on the team. Revels was also named to the RRAC Champions of Character team for UHV.
