Yohana Barrientos takes photos of infant son almost every day with her iPhone7.

"I love to see how he's grown," said the Victoria mother of three.

Abelardo Barrientos Jr. was born at the Women and Children's Center at DeTar Hospital North on Dec. 26 and is now just more than 4 months old.

Earlier this year, she snapped a photo of her infant son wearing his brother's 3-D glasses with a dinosaur book in his hands.

The photo wowed judges in the annual 2017 Adorable Baby Amateur Photography Contest and earned the first place spot.

Abelardo Barrientos said his wife reads to their youngest son often, so she thought it would be funny to make the baby look "book smart" or nerdy.

The family will receive a check for $100 in the contest sponsored by DeTar Healthcare System and the Victoria Advocate.

The contest was open to the more than 1,354 babies delivered in 2016 at DeTar.

Judges picked through 68 entries and winners were chosen based on the photo's quality, composition and originality.

The second place winner is a photo of Kallie Emilia Garcia who was born Aug. 8 to parents John and Monica Garcia of Victoria.

The photo of Kallie was one of a handful of photos taken in her aunt's backyard, which feature bright pink flowers in the background.

Kallie's sweet smile shows off her two bottom teeth and she's wearing a hand-me-down pink shirt.

"It wasn't planned or anything," her mother said.

Kallie is the youngest of three and knows when a photo is about to be taken because her mom says, "Cheeeese."

"She smiles because she thinks it's funny," Monica Garcia said.

They will receive a $75 check for the photo, which was taken by Kallie's aunt, Yolanda Martinez with a Nikon camera.

The third place winner is a stunning photo of Mitchell Alexander Perrigue who was born Aug. 13 to parents Matthew and Shannon Perrigue of Victoria.

Mitchell is playing with bath toys in a little swimming pool in the photo taken by his grandmother Amy Perrigue with a digital camera.

The image shows Mitchell's striking blue eyes and also captured a fun moment.

These photo skills have earned this Victoria family a $50 check.

The seven Honorable Mention Award winners will each receive a check for $25.
