Former St. Joseph athlete signs with UHV

After two years with Western Texas College, former St. Joseph athlete Alyssa Adames is returning to Victoria to continue playing softball after signing a letter of intent Monday with UHV.
Adames helped guide Western Texas to two straight Region IV West Tournament berths the last two years.
She is coming off a stellar season where she appeared in 54 games compiling a .350 batting average and a .508 slugging percentage. She scored 50 runs, had 35 RBIs and 62 hits, 11 of which were doubles, four triples and three home runs.
During her two seasons with the Westerners, Adames compiled a .330 batting average with a .431 slugging percentage and a .373 on-base percentage in 113 games. She finished with 81 runs and 65 RBIs while banging out 18 doubles, five triples and three home runs, along with 18 stolen bases.
She was named to the Western Junior College Athletic Conference honorable mention team and was named the team's best defensive player both years and most improved. She was also named to the Dean's List and earned the Who's Who Award while attending Western Texas.
As a senior for the Lady Flyers, she earned all-district first team recognition and was on the Victoria Advocate's All-Area honorable mention team. She also won her team's Beth Smith Award as team MVP and a Golden Glove Award.
