Victoria County Area Go Texan acknowledges support

Editor, the Advocate:

As the school year comes to a close, the Victoria County Area Go Texan Committee would like to thank the many community businesses and individuals who make it possible for our committee to award over $41,000 in scholarships to the students of Victoria County. Through the work of the committee members, students were able to earn not only local scholarships but also scholarships from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

We would like to thank our sponsors and those participating in Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo team events: barbecue cook off, team roping and sorting, horseshoe and washer teams and the quilt contest. Without these individuals supporting and the team members competing, our county would not be able to fulfill the requirements of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Finally, we would like to thank the supporters of our fundraisers, which included the raffle sale and our Taste of Texas event held in November 2016. Your support is greatly appreciated and highly valued. We look forward to continuing our efforts and cooperating with the businesses and individual as we plan our activities and fundraisers for the upcoming year, including the Taste of Texas, which will be held Nov. 2.

Once again, thank you to all those who supported our organization, which in turn supports the students of Victoria County as they pursue their academic endeavors.

Kirby Garrett, Victoria County Area Go Texan secretary, Victoria
