Industrial's doubles pair finishes 3rd at state

COLLEGE STATION - Industrial's girls doubles pair of Reagan Doyle and Kylann Griffith finished third at the UIL Class 3A Tennis State Championships at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center and Omar Smith Intramural Tennis Center at Texas A&M on Thursday.
The pair defeated Kirbyville's Breanna Seal and Anne Weber (7-5), 6-4 in the quarterfinals before falling to Crane's Meagan King and Lindsey Richards 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals.
Doyle and Griffith became the first doubles team to qualify for the state tournament since 2008.
Also in 3A, Goliad's Jake Bilo and Emily Duprie lost a 6-2, 6-3 mixed doubles quarterfinal match to Big Lake Reagan County's Isabel Holland and Turner Stark.
In Class 4A, Wharton's boys doubles team of Taylor Jetelina and Nick Niemeler defeated Longview Spring Hill's Kavin Patel and Blake Zellinger 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before dropping a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Abilene Wylie's Nikhil Kalia and Davyn Williford in the semifinals.
Wharton's Matthew Stephenson lost 6-2, 6-2 to Robinson's Noah Wingate in a Class 4A boys singles quarterfinal match.
In Class 1A boys singles, Runge's Josiah De Los Santos defeated Hart's Ricky Gordino 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals before falling to Stone Coston, of Slidell, 6-3, 6-1.
