Bay City's Torres commits to UHV softball

Bay City infielder Abigail Torres has committed to play softball with UHV beginning in the 2019 season.
The Bay City senior has been a productive part of the Lady Blackcats' success for the past three seasons. She was named all-state honorable mention and all-area honorable mention this past season as a junior and first- team all-district the past two years.
As a freshman, she was named all-district honorable mention, and was named the team's MVP last year as a junior. She also served as team captain for the Lady Blackcats last season.
She has achieved in the classroom as well, earning all-academic all-district honors the last three seasons as well as being a part of the second-highest team GPA in the nation the last three years. A member of the National Honor Society the last two years, she is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society, POWERSET sponsored by Texas A&M and the Bay City scholars.
"It felt at home," Torres said in making her commitment to UHV. "I love the campus, the city and the atmosphere that came along with it. I just knew UHV was the place for me."
Torres plans to study kinesiology while attending UHV.
