Following a 21-24 season last year, the UHV baseball team will enter the 2018 unranked in the NAIA Baseball Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll released today.

The Jaguars return six defensive starters and four starting pitchers from last year's squad and are ranked seventh in the conference poll entering the 2018 season.

Among the starters returning for the Jaguars are Jacob Atkinson, Joshua Fonseca, Chase Almendarez, Garrett Gray-Mathis, Chase Tamez and Derek Maciejeski, along with pitchers Ross Bludau, Collin Quinn and Nathaniel Pena.

The biggest spot head coach Terry Puhl will have to fill is the loss of All-American Andrew Gross.

LSU-Shreveport is the lone red River Athletic Conference team listed in the poll and are just outside the top 25 after receiving 65 votes.

LSUS is the top team in the RRAC followed by LSU-Alexandria, Texas A&M-Texarkana, Jarvis Christian, the University of the Southwest, Our Lady of the Lake, UHV, Huston-Tillotson, Texas College and Wiley College.

The first regular season coaches' poll is scheduled for March 6.
