Thumbs-up to Trey Ganem and Elite Compression Services for your "love thy neighbor" response for the folks at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs. Your benevolent actions speak and show Christian love. I do not know any of those in Sutherland Springs personally, but I thank God for folks like you.
Thumbs-up to the results of exercise! Thumbs-up to the built-in motivation of attending an exercise class and to the increased energy and lift of spirit that comes with regular exercise.
Thumbs-up to the heroic police officer who risked his own safety to recover the tattered American flag during Hurricane Harvey. We are blessed to have police officers of his caliber in our city.
Thumbs-up to Omar Rachid for bringing much-needed attention to the transit problems in Victoria.
Thumbs-up to our wonderful city of Victoria for the way we all support each other during tragic times. We are blessed to have a community of all denominations who come together to provide help and support for each other in times of need. I am so proud to live in Victoria!
Thumbs-up to the awesome Victoria West High School football team going to the playoffs. Go Warriors!
Thumbs-up to the family-owned Veracruz Restaurant for the way they cared for their employees in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
You usually don't see that level of concern in chain businesses. Veracruz is my favorite restaurant and has been for as long as they have been in business. By the way, Veracruz has finally reopened. Yay!
Thumbs-down to the lack of Victoria businesses this year that showed support for veterans on Veterans Day.
Being a veteran, it was heartbreaking when I drove from north of the mall all the way south down Navarro Street, I did not see one billboard or sign saying "Happy Veterans Day, come dine with us." It's not really about getting a free meal; it's a sign of respect and honor.
When Bootfest is here, there are lots of billboards and signs promoting that. So, why not Veterans Day?
Thumbs-down to those residents who choose to just leave a large amount of unsightly trash in their ditch after all the big items of trash have long been picked-up. It is a sad sight to see.
