Cattle raisers sale accepting consigners

The Jackson County Cattle Raisers Association will hold its sixth annual Premium Bull and Replacement Female Sale at 1 p.m. Feb. 3, at the Edna Livestock Auction Barn.

The barn is one mile north of Edna on SH 111. The group will contact possible consignors for this sale.

The cattle will come in on Feb. 2 and will be available for viewing on Feb. 2-3. All cattle will be in covered pens.

A social and meal will be held Feb. 2 for consignors, sponsors and prospective buyers.

Gulf Tex Livestock Marketing will be the sale manager.

The 2017 auction saw very active bidding for more than 300 head of replacement cattle. Forty-five bulls sold for an average of $3,093. One hundred pairs sold for an average of $1,980, while 135 bred females sold for an average of $1,492, and 65 open heifers sold for an average of $1,438, according to the news release.

Total sales were more than $610,000.

The Jackson County Cattle Raisers Association is searching for consignments for this event. All cattle will be screened by Gulf-Tex before the sale.
