If you ever get a case of "the guilts" for buying something for yourself while shopping for others during the holiday season, don't feel bad. Retailers stock up this time of the year with new items and products that you can often find only during the holiday and for a great price. Here are nine ideas to get your home holiday buying started.
Countertop appliances. These are some of the best buys during the holidays. It is a great time to buy or replace small kitchen appliances for a fraction of what they cost outside of the holidays. Pick up a super blender, food processor, toaster oven, slow cooker or fancy mixer.
Linens and towels. From kitchen towels to sheets and high-quality comforters, linens are a bargain now. January has long been the time for white sales, but the holidays have terrific buys, and some retailers have coupons during the holidays they won't have in January. Stock up now while selection is high.
Kitchen cookware. A favorite gift during the holidays, cookware sets are often a great buy now. Look for sets of pots and pans, skillet sets and bakeware. Clear out those old scratched pans and go into the new year cooking - and looking - good.
Towel warmer. This is a great gift for your home you'll enjoy all year long. Towel warmers can be used to warm and dry towels and have a throw or your bathrobe toasty warm on a cold morning. It also makes a wonderful gift for someone older or with arthritis to help with cold and stiff joints moving in the morning.
Fancy coffee machines. Today, you can make almost any type of coffee at home that you can buy at the local coffee shop with a gourmet coffee machine. Try an espresso machine, an updated pod coffeemaker, or try one of the all-in-one machines that make both pot and single specialty coffees.
Food storage. If you're plastic ware is scratched, cracked and stained, you can get a bountiful set for a song during the holidays. The same is true if you need new oven-safe dishes. Many glass food storage sets are also available and can go straight from the fridge to the oven to make heating leftovers easy and quick with just a cover of foil. Restock your storage pantry now.
Serveware. Whether you need new dishes, cutlery or glasses, serveware is a bargain during the meal-focused months of November and December. Replace old, chipped dishes with a new set and recycle those mismatched glasses and cutlery that you only have in odd numbered place settings.
Vacuum. Not everyone would like this gift under the tree, yet many sad and poorly-working vacuums labor on until they simply no longer work. Why not replace now? Vacuum bargains abound, so consider getting a new model.
Kitchen appliances. This is the time of year when you can save hundreds on an appliance with savings ranging from 25 to 50 percent or more. There's no better time to buy than now when home centers are vying for your attention and are offering some of their best appliance bargains on a wide range of brands and styles.
