Jags fall to 6th at Dr Pepper Classic

WACO - Preston Woodard turned in a top-10 performance Tuesday but it was not enough for the UHV men's golf team as the Jaguars dropped two spots to finish sixth at the Dr Pepper Classic at the par-72 Twin Rivers Golf Club.
The Jaguars posted afinal-round 319 to finish the 36-hole event with a two-day 635.
Host McLennan Community College had six players finish in the top-seven individual spots to claim the team title with a two-day 594 after posting a final-round 296.
Ranger College took second with a 613, while Hutchinson Community College and the McLennan B-team finished tied for third at 620.
Woodard, who began the day in third place, posted a final round 79 to finish at 153 and in a tie for ninth. Cristian Esparza followed Woodard for the Jaguars with a 160 after rounds of 81-79, while Adrian Saenz added an 80-81-161.
Juan David Coy posted an 85-80-165 and Terry Strickland rounded out the UHV scoring with an 81-86-167.
James Rollins, playing as a medalist for the Jaguars, posted a 79-75-154 and finished tied for 13th.
McLennan's Matt Lorentzen won the individual title posting a 3-under par 141 with rounds of 75-66-141.
The Jaguars wrap up their fall season and will return to play in the spring with the UHV Claud Jacob Intercollegiate scheduled for Feb. 17-19 at Victoria Country Club.
