Thumbs-up, thumbs-down; it's your choice

Thumbs-up to all of the careful, considerate, cautious drivers who have done their best to avoid traffic accidents at intersections without regular red and green lights.
Of course no one wants to have a wreck at any time, but it has seemed to me that people have been unusually respectful of others behind the wheel lately, since Harvey.
Thumbs-up to all the folks who donated life-sustaining goods and who helped - and are still helping - distribute those goods at the First Baptist Church in Tivoli.
Thumbs-up to the GVEC and AEP linemen, their support crews and all the first responders for all their hard work in the wake of Hurricane Harvey!
Thumbs-up to Bill Alexander, chief meteorologist at KAVU, for his calming presence and dedication to perfecting his craft in an imperfect world. Keep up the good work, Bill.
Thumbs-up to H-E-B and Walmart for stepping up to feed area folks in need after the hurricane.
Thumbs-up to good people from all over the Golden Crescent area who have pulled together to overcome the challenges and struggles and helped each other recover from Hurricane Harvey.
Thumbs-down to all the buzzard-like out-of-town contractors who have descended on Victoria, who are less interested in aiding in the hurricane recovery and more interested in lining their pockets by charging huge prices for helping area residents. Beware! Ask for references and permits!
