Republican Women host constitution essay contest for seniors

The Republican Women of the Yoakum Area is accepting entries from high school seniors for its annual constitution essay scholarship contest.
The contest is held in conjunction with Constitution Day in September.
Senior students attending high schools as well as home schooled students are invited to participate. The contest deadline is Sept. 25.
Rules, requirements and qualifications may be obtained from school counselors or government teachers or by calling 361-594-4258, 361-772-1442 or 832-725-4701.
Four scholarships will be available: grand prize, $1,000; first place, $500; second place, $300; third place, $200.
Winners and their parents will be notified and awards will be presented at the Republican Women's luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11 at the Yoakum Community Center. Lunch will be provided at no charge to students, parents and sponsors.
This year, Senator Lois Kolkhorst will speak and present the awards.
Republican Women of the Yoakum Area serves Lavaca, DeWitt and Gonzales counties. They work to educate the voting public and support conservative candidates and values. Visitors are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
