A Victoria man was sent to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition Tuesday night after his motorcycle hit a deer.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded about 10:30 p.m. to the wreck on Farm-to-Market Road 446 where a westbound red 2006 Harley-Davidson struck a deer, said DPS Sgt. Ruben San Miguel.

The driver was identified as Nicholas N. Nesloney, 28, of Victoria, he said.

Nesloney was thrown from the motorcycle and was found in the middle of the road by a Victoria County Sheriff's Office deputy.

Nesloney was unconscious with his helmet on, San Miguel said.

He was transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro and was later taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Nesloney was listed in critical but stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon, the trooper said.
