Men, women post conference shutouts

SHREVEPORT, La. - The UHV men's soccer team recorded its second straight Red River Athletic Conference shutout.

The Jaguars captured a 2-0 win over LSU-Shreveport on Thursday at The Swamp.

UHV improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference. The Pilots fell to 6-3 and 0-2.

Espen Hansen scored on a header in the 52nd minute after taking a cross from Adrian Rodriguez.

Leonel Rivas added the second goal in the 75th minute.

UHV goalkeeper Palemon Plancarte had four saves in the shutout.

The Jaguars return to conference action at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at LSU-Alexandria.

UHV women earn first win

SHREVEPORT, La. - The UHV women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season.

Kaitlyn Finger scored in the 54th minute to lift the Jaguars to a 1-0 victory over LSU-Shreveport on Thursday at The Swamp.

UHV improved to 1-3 on the year and 1-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play. The Pilots dropped to 1-4-2 and 0-2.

The Jaguars limited LSU-Shreveport to three shots on goal, which were all stopped by goalkeeper Bianca Galindo.

UHV returns to conference play at 1 p.m. Saturday at LSU-Alexandria.
