Are there any events planned for University of Houston-Victoria alumni this spring?

UHV always is looking for fun ways to connect with its alumni, and we have several events planned this spring to make that possible.

Alumni events are a big part of UHV Homecoming week each year. Our Alumni Banquet is coming up on March 2 as part of the homecoming celebration. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the UHV University North Multi-Purpose Room, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St. Tickets for the event are $15 and include a show by an entertainer who is a comedian and a magician.

The event will feature a catered dinner, updates on the university's expansion and a presentation of the university's Distinguished Alumna and Young Alumnus of the Year awards. The evening will conclude with a show featuring comedian and magician Robby Bennett.

In addition to the banquet, alumni can take part in UHV's Homecoming celebrations during the annual Homecoming Tailgate at 11 a.m. March 3 in Riverside Stadium. Pre-registration for the event includes lunch and free tickets to the UHV baseball doubleheader against Huston-Tillotson University. The homecoming king and queen will be crowned between the games.

During the tailgate, alumni also will be able to take part in the Riverside Food Truck Festival, which is partnering with UHV during Saturday's homecoming celebration.

In addition to these events, representatives from Balfour, the company that makes UHV's official class ring, will be available in the UHV University Center foyer, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St., on Feb. 26 and 27. Alumni who want to see UHV's ring design and order a ring can do so then. If a ring is ordered by the end of homecoming, the ring should arrive in time for alumni to take part in the annual ring ceremony on April 27.

Class rings also can be purchased at any time through Balfour's website.

After homecoming, UHV alumni are invited to take part in a road trip to a Houston Rockets basketball game. The Rockets play the New Orleans Pelicans on March 24 in the Toyota Center. As with previous road trips, alumni and their guests are welcome to attend, and complimentary charter transportation, along with drinks and snacks, are available. Tickets cost $40 a person, and seating is limited.

UHV knows its alumni are important, and we want to give them every opportunity to be engaged with their university. To pre-register or order tickets for these events, alumni can go online to www.uhvconnect.org/events or contact Kira Mudd, director of alumni relations and annual giving, at 361-570-4869 or muddke@uhv.edu.
