DEWITT COUNTY

CUERO - Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University will offer ways to get rid of debt and manage money every Thursday evening, starting Thursday through April 5, at First Presbyterian Church, 302 N. McLeod St. Class is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a free meal served 30 minutes before class starts. Free childcare is also offered for these classes.

The Cuero Area Youth Soccer Association will begin spring registration 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Pavilion at Cuero City Park. Registration fee is $75 and is open to children ages 4 to 12 years. Players must be 4 by Jan. 1, 2018. New players must bring a copy of their birth certificate. Coaches are also needed. For more information, call 361-235-2928.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life will have a Valentine's Day bake sale at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Texas Trust Bank Lobby, 121 E. Courthouse St. All proceeds will go toward the DeWitt County Relay for Life.

The DeWitt County Commissioners Court will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the DeWitt County Courthouse, 307 N. Gonzales St.

The Cuero City Council will meet at 5:15 p.m Monday at Cuero City Hall, 212 E. Main.

The Boys and Girls Club of DeWitt County will host a Gospel Brunch at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at The Venue on Church St., 125 E. Church St. Individual tickets are $50. Table sponsors are also welcome. To reserve a spot, email boysandgirlsclubof-dewittcounty@gmail.com.

Cuero Main Street will host a workshop for social media and retail growth from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at city hall chambers, 212 E. Main St. Snacks will be provided, and all are welcome to attend.

YORKTOWN - The Yorktown school board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the junior high school library, 418 W. Fourth St. The school district has also offered the following ways on their website and social media for students to fight the flu - get the flu shot; cough into your elbow, not your hands; wash hands often; and stay home if sick.

Bible study for children and adults will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 541 N. West St.; children's study begins at 5 p.m., and adult study begins at 7 p.m.

The Yorktown City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at city hall, 119 E. Main St.

GOLIAD COUNTY

GOLIAD - La Bahia Nursing and Rehabilitation will host an Alzheimer's caregiver support group from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the nursing home, 225 E. Ward St. For additional information, call 361-645-8902.

Zumba classes take place 6-7 p.m every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Grace Temple Building, 118 Temple St; sessions are $5 each or $40 a month.

Goliad Market Days will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 231 S. Market St. There will be arts, crafts, plants, yard art, food and drinks, jewelry and more; for more information, call the Goliad Chamber of Commerce at 361-645-3563.

Nature and cultural programs are available during the weekend at Goliad State Park, 108 Park Road. The nature programs are from 10 to 11 a.m. and cultural programs and history tours are 2 to 3 p.m.

Christians Against Substance Abuse will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ, 2770 U.S. 183 N.

JACKSON COUNTY

EDNA - A chili supper will be 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday at the Edna Junior High School Cafeteria, 505 W. Gayle St.; tickets are $7.

The Texas High School Rodeo Association Region 7 will host a competition Saturday and Sunday at the Brackenridge Main Event Center, 284 Brackenridge Parkway. The rodeo begins at 9 a.m.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at city hall, 126 W. Main St.

VANDERBILT - The Industrial school board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Industrial ISD Administration Building, 167 5th St.

LAVACA COUNTY

HALLETTSVILLE - Toddler story time is at 9 a.m. every Thursday at Friench Simpson Memorial Library, 705 E. 4th St.

SHINER - The Legacy Endowment Gala, hosted by Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, will be Feb. 17 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 122 S. Ave G. There are limited dinner and dance tickets; $100 per individual and $175 per couple. Texas Hold 'Em seats are $100 each. BLOOMINGTON - Bloomington Middle School will host a STAAR night for students and parents as they discuss Title I, tutorials, test taking strategies and teacher tips from 6 p.m. at the middle school campus, 2781 Farm-to-Market Road 616.

CALHOUN COUNTY

PORT LAVACA - The Republican Party will hold a public forum for the Republican candidates at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Episcopal Parish Hall, 213 E. Austin St.

The Calhoun County YMCA will host a father and daughter dance 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the YMCA, 713 SH 35 S.; admission is $30 per couple and $10 for each additional child.

PORT O'CONNOR - The 23rd annual Sweetheart Banquet will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Port O'Connor Community Center, 3674 W. Adams St.

REFUGIO COUNTY

REFUGIO - Open House for Refugio High School and Refugio Jr. High will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at their shared campus, 212 W. Vance St.

The Refugio Little League will host it first tryout for minor, major and juniors baseball and softball at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Park, on West Jeter Street, behind McDonalds.
