Jaguars win 2 of 3 at Cowtown Classic

FORT WORTH - The UHV softball team won two out of three games on Day 1 of the NAIA Cowtown Classic Tournament in Fort Worth at the Gateway Park to open the season.

The Jaguars lost a 4-0 decision to Baker (Kansas), but rebounded in the second game with 4-0 win against Bethel.

Calhoun's Kelsey Tidrick and Peyton Branham combined to pitch a three-hit shutout for the Jaguars (1-1).

Tidrick had two strikeouts, and gave up two hits in five innings of work to pick up the win in the circle for the Jaguars.

Branham added five strikeouts in her two innings in the circle.

Michelle Revels, Alyssa Adames, Marissa Longoria, Angelica Davidson and Ashley Adkins all had hits for the Jaguars. Davidson added an RBI single in the third inning.

The Jagaurs defeated Bethany College 2-1 in the final game of the day.

The Jaguars will continue play on Saturday.
